How the calculator works

Missed calls per week × callers who give up and ring someone else × your close rate = lost customers per week. Lost customers × average sale value = lost revenue. We use 52 weeks a year and 52 ÷ 12 weeks a month.

The voicemail percentage and close rate are assumptions you can change, not statistics. Check your phone's call log for a week to get your real missed call count. Use your own currency; the maths is the same.

Common questions

How is the missed calls cost worked out?

Missed calls per week, times the share of callers who hang up and ring someone else, times how often you would normally win the sale or booking, gives lost customers per week. Lost customers times your average sale value gives lost revenue. A month is 52 weeks divided by 12, and a year is 52 weeks.

Where does the 70% default come from?

It is a starting assumption, not a statistic. Many callers who reach voicemail hang up without leaving a message, especially when they need something soon. Change it to match what you see in your own call log.

How do I stop losing customers to missed calls?

Send an automatic text back within a minute of a missed call so the caller knows you will get back to them. Our free guide shows how to set it up with Zapier, Make or n8n.
